About Wetherby

The Swan & Talbot is situated in the thriving market town of Wetherby, the heart of Yorkshire. It stands on the River Wharfe and historically being the midway point between London and Edinburgh. Although Wetherby hosts an abundance of amenities throughout its picturesque settings it is most famous for Wetherby Racecourse, a great day out for all.

Wetherby is ideally located between Leeds, Harrogate and York and combined with excellent transport links makes it a great place to visit and stay. The Swan and Talbot is under a five minute drive from the A1 and is the perfect location to base yourself whether it be a business meeting, an activity weekend away or just a relaxing weekend away.

Wetherby

Visitors to Wetherby can find fantastic riverside walks up and down the Wharfe, which has a number of routes both up and down the river many with picnic areas all culminating in an area near the wier in the centre of Wetherby next to a large free car park.

Wetherby also has a wealth of cafés and coffee shops along with a number of restaurants and pubs serving both the local area and visitors alike. With boutique shops and artisan food stores Wetherby also plays host to a local market every Thursday which takes place just a couple of minutes walk from The Swan and Talbot.

The surrounding villages of Boston Spa, Linton, Collingham, Harewood, Thorp Arch and Kirk Deighton add to the attractions of Wetherby with a number of very popular golf courses, activity sites and stately homes to visit.

Harrogate

Wetherby is 8 miles away from Harrogate, a very popular location to visit with it’s wealth of shops, restaurants and attractions. Topping the bill of attractions in Harrogate are Betty’s tea rooms, the Turkish baths, Valley gardens and Harrogate theatre. With many many more attractions both inside and on the outskirts of Harrogate.

Harrogate also has the Harrogate showground and the international conference centre which hosts events such as the Great Yorkshire show, The BBC good food show and The Harrogate flower show.

York

Wetherby is 12 miles from York, a very famous historic city. Countless shops, cafés and historic monuments line the streets of York. You can spend days exploring the Cathedral, the city walls, the cities churches and historic buildings. An incredibly picturesque city both in the summer seasons and in the colder months which will keep you coming back for more.

Along with the historic sights of York there is also the famous York racecourse located on the outskirts of the city, with races from October onwards.

Leeds

A 12 mile trip to Leeds will bring you into the hustle and bustle of a thriving Northern city. Once again playing host to a wide variety of shops and restaurants along with the famous Leeds market and a very popular nightlife. There are also art galleries, concert stadiums, theatres and numerous sporting arenas in the city limits. This along with the plentiful villages and towns on the outskirts of Leeds you will not be short of something to do.
